Authentic Germanic cuisine is finally being offered in the heart of Kansas City. Chef Peter Grunauer, along with members of his Kansas City and Vienna-based family, has opened his namesake restaurant in the historic Freight House in the Crossroads Arts District. The Grunauer family also operates a popular and long-lived restaurant of the same name in Vienna’s artsy Neubau neighborhood, and they hope to bring much the same inspired Austrian cooking and atmosphere to downtown Kansas City.
